Sudden arrival of crocodiles in Bhadra-Teligati river in Dumuria, fishermen and local residents panic

 Local fishermen have stopped fishing in the Bhadra-Teligati river in Shobna area of ​​Dumuria upazila after suddenly seeing a crocodile floating in the river.  The hungry crocodile caught a local youth's goat from the river and ate it.


 Local residents said that the Bhadra-Teligati river has joined the Shivsa river and has fallen into the sea.  They believe that the crocodiles broke away and settled in this river in Dumuria.  After the crocodile came into the river, two fishermen attacked the boat and the fishermen stopped fishing in the river.  In addition, the common people living on the banks of the river have stopped taking bath and taking water from the river.


 It is known that on the morning of July 8, Mahitosh, a fisherman of Mathbaria village near the Bhadra river of the upazila, took a net and went to catch fish in the river.  At that time a crocodile attacked his boat.  Later, Mahitosh and his fellow fishermen left the nets and quickly came to the shore with the boat.  That day at noon, a woman named Nasima Begum went to fetch water from the river with her sister's son Rabbi and saw a crocodile floating on the bank of the river.  When the news spread in the area, eager people flocked to the river bank to see the crocodile.


 Helal Uddin, a fisherman of Bhardia village in the upazila, said that when he went to the bank of the river in Tiramuni area for fishing, he saw two crocodiles floating there.  In panic, he left the net-boat and informed the local people.  On hearing the news, people rushed to the river bank and saw the floating crocodile.


 Local UP chairman Suranjit Kumar Vaidya said, "At least four large crocodiles have been seen in the river in our area for several days.  A goat was also taken away from the bank of Bhadra river in Jialtala area by a crocodile last Friday.  The common people of the area have been warned.

 In this regard Dumuria upazila fisheries officer said.  Abubakar Siddique said, "I went there myself after hearing that crocodiles have come to the river."  The facts are true.  Many fishermen also called and informed me about this.  We assume that the crocodile branch broke away from the sea and entered the river.  The fishermen and concerned persons have also been made aware.  Fishermen are watching crocodiles floating in the river, also attacking crocodiles in boats.  In such a situation, fishermen have stopped fishing in the river.  '
