Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina has congratulated the new President of the United Arab Emirates Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan on behalf of the people of Bangladesh.
This information has been given in a press release sent from the Prime Minister's Office on Sunday.
In his congratulatory message to the new President of the United Arab Emirates, the Prime Minister said that the fact that you have been elected to this post shows that the Federal Supreme Council and the people of the United Arab Emirates have deep confidence in your leadership and intelligence.
Referring to the recognition of Bangladesh by the United Arab Emirates in 1974, the Prime Minister said, "Our steel-like relationship has reached today's heights with significant achievements in many sectors." These include human resources, trade, investment, culture, education and defense.
The Prime Minister further said that since the recognition of the two countries as states in 1971, Bangladesh and UAE have been tried and tested friends on various bilateral issues and mutual interests.
Wishing Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan good health, Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina expressed her determination to work together for the welfare of the people of the two countries in the future.
