A colorful seminar titled 'Bangabandhu's Bangladesh in Barcelona' was held at Barcelona University, a traditional academic institution in Spain.
This seminar was held on the initiative of the Bangladesh Embassy in Madrid on Monday.
The seminar was organized as part of the program to celebrate the 102nd birth anniversary of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman, the 51st year of Bangladesh's independence and the golden jubilee of Spain-Bangladesh diplomatic relations.
In his opening speech at the seminar, Mohammad Sarwar Mahmud, Ambassador of Bangladesh appointed to Spain, Andorra and Equatorial Guinea, said, 'Bangabandhu's excellent speech given at the United Nations General Assembly in 1974 lies in following his philosophy of world peace, the global solution to today's critical situation.
The Ambassador urged the Spanish business community to take advantage of the business-friendly environment and attractive tax incentives for foreign investment in Bangladesh's fast-growing agroprocessing, automobile and medical device manufacturing, information technology, blue economy and tourism and hospitality sectors.
At the end of the speech, he presented an interesting video documentary on Bangabandhu's struggling biography and 'Bangladesh Branding'.
In the opening speech, Rector (Vice-Chancellor) of the host university Professor John Guardia said, "Barcelona University is the only well-wisher in Bangladesh's irresistible progress." We warmly welcome more Bangladeshi students in higher education here.
Spanish Ambassador to Bangladesh Francisco de Asis Benitez Salas gave a greeting from Dhaka at the seminar.
Rizvi Alam, General Secretary of Spain Awami League, Ramon Pedro, Honorary Consul of Bangladesh in Barcelona and Javier Parondo, Director General of Spanish Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Casa Asia, also spoke.
