Independence of Bangladesh is based on 6 point movement

Historical 6 points of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Haman known as the Charter of Liberation of Bengali Nation.  Based on these 6 points, the movement for autonomy, independence and freedom of Bengalis was formed;  The result of which took the form of the Great War.

Tuesday (June 6) is a historic 6-point day.  A unique day in the history of the liberation struggle of the Bengali nation.

Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman declared 6 points in 1976 to establish the right of self-determination of the Bengali nation crushed under the wheel of Pakistani colonial rule, exploitation and oppression.  The movement and struggle formed on the basis of these 6 points declared by Bangabandhu took shape in the independence movement of Bangladesh and paved the way for the great war of liberation.

In the continuation of the 6-point movement, the 5 point demands of the student society of Bengal were added and turned into 11 point demands and through this 11 point movement the historic mass uprising of '69 was organized.  Following the path of this mass uprising, the Awami League won a landslide victory in the 1970 elections under the leadership of Bangabandhu.  Later, the ultimate victory of the Bengali nation was marked by the independence of Bangladesh and the bloody war of liberation.

Just as the people of the Indian subcontinent formed a united non-cooperation movement to drive out British rule and exploiters from the country, so did the then East Bengal people use the 6 points declared by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman in 1967 as a tool to drive Pakistanis out of the country.  Each of these 6 points spread among the people in the remote areas of Bengal.  These 6 points of Bangabandhu in establishing self-determination quickly became the certificate of liberation of Bengalis.

On the basis of the 6-point movement, the program of hartal was announced on 8 June at a public meeting of the platoon organized by the Awami League on 13 May 1966.  During the month of June, a massive program was carried out in the 6-point campaign.  On June 6, Manu Mia of Sylhet, a worker of Bengal Beverages in Tejgaon, was shot dead.  The protests spread across the country.  The train stopped at Tejgaon.  Abul Hossain, a worker of Azad Enamel Aluminum Factory, was shot dead by EPR.  On the same day, six workers were shot dead by police near Narayanganj railway station

Due to the intensity of the movement, Dhaka-Narayanganj went out of the control of the government.  A curfew was imposed on the evening of June 6.  Thousands of activists and ordinary people were arrested.  In many places, angry mobs carried out the arrests.  The 6-point movement spread like wildfire across the country.  The 6-point movement became associated with the student-people's movement and the working people's movement.

One of the glorious chapters of the political life of Father of the Nation Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was his leadership in the 6-point movement.  Sheikh Mujibur Rahman started a mass communication movement all over Bengal with the aim of organizing public opinion in favor of the 6 points.  During this time he was repeatedly arrested in Sylhet, Mymensingh and Dhaka.  He was arrested six times in the first three months of 1986.  The six-point movement led by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was the focal point of all political activities in the country from 1967 to the general elections of Pakistan held in December 1970.

The mass uprising of 1969 was organized through this 6 point movement.  Awami League leader Sheikh Mujibur Rahman was conferred the title of 'Bangabandhu' through the 6-point movement.  Then in the election of '70 the Awami League and the Bengali nation won a huge victory.  This election verdict was a conviction to move forward on the path to independence from Pakistan's rule, exploitation and oppression.  Following this, independent Bangladesh was born on the world map with the declaration of independence of Bangladesh by Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman on 26 March 1971.  After the victory in the long bloody bloody liberation war, Bengalis were established as an independent nation in the heart of the world.
