48 hours before the start of the World Cup in Qatar, FIFA is in trouble, there is a risk of huge losses

The fear of football lovers in Europe and America is going to come true in the end.  After a few mild objections, the government order was effectively issued in Qatar before the start of the World Cup.  And FIFA is in trouble with that order.

Qatar's royal family has demanded that all World Cup stadiums ban the sale of alcohol or alcoholic beverages.  It is not possible for the organizers of the World Cup to directly reject this demand or instruction of the royal family.  They are busy looking for alternatives.  Qatar's royal family suddenly took such a look at FIFA officials.  Because one of the main sponsors of the World Cup is a beer manufacturing company.

Qatar's organizing committee desperate to carry out Qatar's royal order.  They are pressuring FIFA to remove beer shops from stadiums.  Fifa bosses were surprised when the organizers changed their stance just hours before the start of the competition.  If beer cannot be sold in the stadiums, FIFA will face a huge financial loss.  Because the beer manufacturing company is the biggest sponsor of the World Cup this time.  Although the king of Qatar himself did not say anything about it, his brother Sheikh Jassim bin Hamad bin Khalifa Al-Thani raised objections to the sale of beer in the stadiums of the World Cup.  He is also the president of Qatar Football Association.  Doha police have closed down all of the city's temporary beer shops set up for the World Cup after the royal family objected.

Fifa officials are in talks with the heads of the respective beer manufacturers as they are unable to convince the royal family.  Although it is very difficult to find a solution formula, the concerned think.  Even though the royal family objected earlier, they did not directly demand to stop the sale.  It is believed that Jassim demanded to stop the sale of beer directly on the orders of the King or Emir of Qatar, Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani.

As an alternative, FIFA has proposed removing the temporary beer stalls from the stadium grounds to one side.  So that relatively few people see them.  At the same time, whether that place can be covered in any way, is also being looked into.  However, the World Cup sponsor beer manufacturing company has been told by the organizers to evacuate all temporary shops.  There has been no objection to the sale of beer in the seating area of special guests at the stadium.  If you want to drink beer there, you have to spend at least 22 thousand 450 dollars or about 18.5 lakh taka per match.

Until now, beer was sold from temporary beer shops in stadiums and fan-zones for 30 minutes before and after kick-off.  Football fans can enter the gallery by drinking beer at certain places in the stadium area.  Foreign nationals can buy beer in the stadium premises only if they have a ticket to watch the game.  One person cannot buy more than four glasses of beer.  Beer consumption is also limited to avoid potential unrest.  But with the new demands of the royal family, that system is also about to be stopped.

Alcohol or alcoholic beverages are prohibited in Qatar.  Only a handful of luxury hotels in the capital, Doha, allow alcohol consumption inside.  There is only one liquor store eight kilometers away from the main town.  Foreign nationals living in Qatar on business can only buy liquor from that shop if they have a permit.  Drinking is not allowed on the road or in the car.  You have to take it home to drink.  Source: Anandabazar
