Five people died again in West Bengal due to consumption of poisonous liquor

In the span of a week, five people have died again in India's West Bengal after drinking poisoned liquor.  Besides, three people have been admitted to Howrah District Hospital in critical condition.  The death toll is expected to increase.

The incident took place on Tuesday night in Gajanan Basti area of Howrah Mali Panchghara police station near Kolkata.

Meanwhile, extreme tension spread in Howrah Malipara area from Wednesday morning due to death due to consumption of poisonous liquor.  Illegal liquor shops and the slums of miscreants involved in this business were vandalized and set on fire by the agitated mob.  Locals claim that around 32 people have died in the last four days after drinking poisonous liquor.  They did not get any result even after informing the administration.  However, such a claim has been denied by the administration.  A large force of police has been deployed at the spot to control the situation.

According to Howrah police sources, the police have surrounded Gajanan Basti with barricades so that the tension cannot spread elsewhere.  Several connecting roads have been closed.  Earlier last week, five people died after consuming poisoned liquor in West Bengal's Burdwan district.  Burdwan district administration was shaken by that incident.
