An old woman named Tapsi Chakma (60) was killed in a wild elephant attack in Jibatali Union of Rangamati, Bangladesh.  He was killed on the spot when a wild elephant attacked his house in Ward No. 2 of Jibatali Union No. 1 in Rangamati Sadar Upazila on Monday morning, locals said.

 Tapsi Chakma is the wife of Gopal Chandra Chakma of the area.


 Dhan Chakma, a member of Jeevatali UP, said that the old woman came out of the house with a natural call at night.  At that time, he was attacked by an elephant and died on the spot.

 According to local villagers, a herd of wild elephants has been roaming around the hilly village of Jibatali Union for a long time.  Almost every day, wild elephants are destroying houses and crops in the village.  People are spending their days in terror.
