3 killed in heavy rains in Assam, about 25,000 trapped

 Heavy rain was forecast for the weekend.  Assam is really in turmoil due to that fear.  Three people, including a woman, died in the heavy rain.  The disaster was caused by a landslide in Dima Hasao district.



 About 25,000 people are stranded in six districts.  About 2,000 hectares of farmland have been damaged.  Rescue efforts are underway with the help of army and paramilitary forces.  According to officials, the heavy rains have started due to the impact of cyclone Ashani.


 Due to the incessant rains, the water has already started rising in the rivers.  Officials said many rivers overflowed.  About 2,000 people have been rescued from Kachar district and brought to safety.


 According to a tweet from India's news agency ANI, part of the road was washed away by the floodwaters.  The incident took place in Haflong area of ​​Dima Hasao district of Assam.


 Dima Hasao has suffered the most.  There are reports of landslides in about 12 villages.  About 60 houses have been damaged.  Rains have also caused floods in the entire district.


 Dima Hasao district deputy commissioner said people were not allowed on the streets.  Roads have collapsed in many places due to the floods, which could lead to landslides at any time.  Several homes and offices were also reported damaged.
