Some darkness terrifies, some darkness attracts people. Entangled in a web of incomprehensible, insurmountable lust and curiosity. As the limping, mesmerized seer stands on the brink, the abyss swallows him. Our writing is about such a darkness. Dark blue, pornography.
When we talk about pornography or erotica, we usually don't think of darkness. The relationship between secrecy, shame, forbidden pleasure or lust is clear. But the darkness? The reality is that we don't care much about pornography. Discussion about this is rare in society. There is a need for discussion at all, even a rare thought. Most conversations about pornography are therefore limited to varying degrees of profanity, suggestive jokes and banter. A large section of society tries to avoid the subject altogether. And what is discussed a bit, is the objectification of women through porn; The representation of women as mere objects, as flesh comes up. But this is only a partial picture. We do not realize the true extent of the harmful effects of this poisonous image of primitive happiness. The truth is that modern people have not yet fully understood how harmful pornography is. But what is known so far is enough to surprise
Pornography is not “innocent pleasure”. No small moral deviation. If you pretend not to see such a problem, its existence will disappear. Pornography addiction is a serious threat to individuals, families and society. Because, its effect is not limited to creating temporary excitement; Rather, pornography changes people in the long run. Pornography literally changes the human brain. Changes the structure of the circuits inside the head. Watching porn starts a flood of chemicals like dopamine and oxytocin in the head. These chemicals make us feel happy. A chemical flood creates a temporary euphoria every time you watch porn. The natural tendency of man is to return again and again to that source of what gives him pleasure. So people go back to porn because of the dopamine addiction. Thus a loop is formed. Over a period of repetition, the brain, accustomed to high levels of dopamine, can no longer be as happy as before. More dopamine is needed. More, more “hard” porn. Then more, then more. At some point, the ability to be naturally happy is almost completely lost.
If that's hard to understand, read the above paragraph again with heroin or cocaine instead of porn. This is the classic model of addiction. Addiction to every drug thus creates dependence and addiction in people. The scary thing is that in the case of pornography, the result of this addiction is a change in the person's sex-psychology, sexual desire and ability. Just as a drug addict does not find pleasure in normal life, a porn addict does not find satisfaction in normal sex. Pornography creates within him unrealistic expectations, dissatisfaction, and a thirst for imitation. Reality is not enough for him. Unsatisfied in his search for happiness, he enters deeper and deeper into the blue dark hole.
Although it starts with the individual, its impact is not limited to the individual. Poisons families and relationships. At some point pornography began to influence society and culture. This is already happening in the media. Once upon a time, porn imitated mainstream fiction. But now the mainstream media is imitating pornography. This is noticeable in many cases, but it is most visible in recent western pop music-music videos and Bollywood items. In addition, there is the over-sexualization of the media and society as a whole. It is difficult to understand at first how terrible these things are for individuals, families and society, how wide their scope is.
Pornography is a disease that has spread unnoticed from metropolitan to suburbs. This disorder does not follow any class, caste, language or national identity boundaries. He is an extreme communist in his poisonous corruption. A pure pixel fantasy awaits at your fingertips in the bedroom, class or public place. From children to old people, porn is within everyone's reach. This disorder is one of the most extreme health and social risks of today. As countless studies have proven, this is a problem that takes a long-term toll on countless people's lives. Not only the affected person, but also his family and society. There is free penetration of porn in any corner, in any room. But most people do not know about the severity of this danger. Pornography is a silent epidemic.
There is no shortage of crime in our society, but nothing is as readily available as pornography. Drug use, rape, murder or other crimes require you to leave your home. Even a little risk must be taken. If caught will be punished. But no barrier, no age limit applies to porn. Nothing else is needed, just a phone, that's it. According to a 2012 Yamuna TV survey of eighth-grade students in some schools, 76 percent of students have their own phones. The rest use their parents' phones. 82% watch porn on mobile if they get a chance, 62% watch porn while sitting in class. According to the private one, it has been seen that porn of Tk 2.5 crore is sold daily in the country from shops that "load" songs/ringtones on photocopies and mobile phones. This is data from about six years ago, when Android phones and mobile internet usage were not so widespread. Imagine what the current situation could be.
Although pornography has entered our homes but still talking about pornography is taboo in our society. Talking about pornography is “indecent”, “obscene”. While hand-to-hand pornography is "part of civilisation", discussion of pornography's harmful effects is "unsuitable for civilized conversation". Instead of accepting the unpleasant truth, modern people are interested in interpreting the truth in their own way. Frank confession has taken the place of an attempt to find a version of reality which, if accepted, does not entail asking unpleasant, uncomfortable, dangerous or fundamental questions about life, society, the state or the world order. It doesn't matter how true this version of reality is. It is important to maintain the status quo even if the eyes are closed. When the encircling blue darkness begins to peek into our sacred lives, we pretend not to see. Don't question, don't worry. Instead of walking the uncomfortable path of change, we prefer to be passively lost in the abyss of darkness, searching for explanations at will. And so we deceive ourselves, lie to ourselves.
This optional blindness and unconditional acceptance of Western modernity has forced us to ignore the warning signs. While learning the lessons of progress, we did not notice when this darkness entered our homes. Today, you, me, our children, our friends, no one is safe from the toxic effects of pornography. Everyone is a potential victim. Millions of children and teenagers are caught in the trap of pornography addiction. Broken mutual trust, countless families. Many holy souls have perished and the number is increasing. We are standing on the very edge of a dark hole. If there is no change in our thinking and perspective on the extent of the horror of pornography, it is only a matter of time before the insurmountable darkness engulfs society. So there is no opportunity to remain silent, inactive. The truth, no matter how unpleasant or uncomfortable, must be revealed. Because the price to pay for silence is very, very high. And Allah Ta'ala never hesitates to reveal the truth. Neither should we as Muslims.
