A 6-year-old Palestinian child died without treatment due to the Israeli blockade in the besieged Gaza Strip.
He needed to be flown out of the Gaza Strip for better treatment. But it could not be taken because of the Israeli army's obstruction.
Finally, a 6-year-old child, Farooq Abu Abul-Naja, died without treatment on Sunday.
Abul-Nazar was due to be treated at Hadassah Ein Kerem Hospital in Jerusalem's al-Quds city, according to Al-Mizan Center, a human rights organization in Gaza. Because there is no treatment for this disease in any hospital in Gaza.
But Israeli authorities did not allow the Palestinian child to be taken from Gaza to the hospital in the West Bank.
Al-Mizan Center says Tel Aviv is therefore entirely responsible for Abul-Nazar's death.
Abul-Nazar's treatment at Hadassah Hospital was last January. For this reason, his family applied to the Israeli authorities to go there. But Tel Aviv took months to review that application.
He was scheduled to visit the hospital again this August. But so far Israel has not responded to his request.
Israel imposed strict sanctions on the Gaza Strip in 2007. This resulted in widespread unemployment in the valley and the standard of living plummeted.
