Venezuela-Colombia reestablish diplomatic relations after 3 years

 Venezuela and Colombia have re-established full diplomatic relations after three years.  Diplomatic relations between the two countries were severed in 2019.  After the establishment of new relations, the two countries appointed ambassadors.


 Colombian Ambassador Armando Benedetti presented his credentials to Deputy Foreign Minister Rander Pena Ramirez in the Venezuelan capital, Caracas, on Sunday.  He gave this information in a post on social media Twitter.


 Venezuela's Deputy Foreign Minister also said in a post on Twitter, "Historical relations between the two countries have been re-established for the happiness and peace of our people."

 Venezuelan President Nicolas Maduro has also appointed his country's former foreign minister, Felix Placencia, as the new ambassador.


 After coming to power in Colombia, left-wing President Gustavo Petroc attempted to normalize diplomatic relations with Venezuela.
